Automotive Mechanics 3 and 4

This class is a two-semester, two hour, every-other-day course which provides the student with job-entry skills in auto mechanics or advanced training at a community college or vocation-technical school.

Objectives and activities of the course include the following:

1. Demonstrate ability to meet the entry-level requirements of service center employment.

2. Develop safe shop practices.

3. Exhibit evidence of manipulative skills, learning by practice.

4. Exhibit an awareness of good work habits, but not limited to cleanliness, orderliness, and safe shop practices.

5. Demonstrate the necessary technical knowledge and comprehension of scientific, mathematic, and mechanical principles to form sound trade judgments.

6. Exhibit qualities of leadership for effective participation in the various organizations affiliated with the automotive service center mechanics trade.

7. Evaluation is based on a point system. Points are given for daily participation, competency completion and experience.

8. Completion of an individual pre-approved project second semester is required.
