
Independent Living
Are you ready for life after High School? This one-semester course is designed to provide the financial and personal information necessary for living on your own. You will explore your role as an independent member of your community. You will study practical topics such as financial planning, banking, credit, insurance and taxes. You will learn how to make major purchases and how to pay for them. This course will cover decisions about housing and creating a home to meet your current and future needs. Topics will include renting vs. buying, contracts, and your rights responsibilities as a tenant or homeowner. The student has the responsibility to pay the costs of individual projects (which the student keeps).
