Retail Operations

Retail Operations is the final step in the marketing process that reaches from manufacturer to customer. Success in the retail business comes from a strong understanding in basic business principles. Students will develop skills in the following areas: buying, selling, ordering, inventory control, staffing, management, merchandising, sales promotion, information systems, money handling, accounting and all basic store operation procedures.

Students will learn the operation of a state-of -the-art point of sale computer system. (KeyStroke) This is the same type of system used by many major retailers. When students exit this class they will be able to demonstrate basic retail skills that would prepare them for entry level employment.

All students will be required to obtain a "King County Food Handlers Permit", on their own time, and at their own cost.
