Plant Science 1 and 2
This is a one year lab science course designed for students who want to learn how to grow and care for plants. Students learn practical skills in propagation of plants, nursery production, floral design, landscaping, bonsai, botany, soil science, gardening, pruning, plant identification and marketing of horticultural products. This class utilizes several local businesses to provide off site learning experiences though class field trips. Students practice written and oral communication while developing leadership skills in a group setting. Membership in the FFA student club is highly recommended for this class. The class is designed for people that want to get their hands "dirty" while learning practice skills. A lab fee of 35 dollars is required for this class. This course is also eligible for college credit through the Tech Prep consortium.
