Construction Trades

A preparatory course which students learn and apply knowledge and skills in the building, inspection and maintaining of structures and related properties. Carpentry, electrical building/construction finishing, management, inspection and other construction-related applications. Students who complete both Woods offerings and the construction Trades course are encouraged to enroll as Vocational Leads in the Construction Trades and woods courses.

Curriculum Includes: Safe operation of equipment and shop procedures. Tool operation and care. Framing of wood structures and related mathematics, measurement, calculations and estimation. Wiring of new structures/ remodels and the accompanying calculations for loads per circuit, layout and load rating. Construction materials, purchasing, construction management and job-site safety procedures.
