Community scholarships have now become available and it's time to let the community know how hard you have been working!
In order to apply for scholarships, you are being asked to complete a scholarship application which will allow you to apply for several local scholarships with a single application form process.
Applications can be picked up in the Career Center starting Friday, February 15th.

Need a Lift? contains extensive information on scholarships for veteran's dependents. It gives specific information on 1,400 colleges and universities around the nation. Another section contains information provided by Scholarship Resource Network about its electronic scholarship search service. This computer search provides access to additional scholarships, grants, and loans based upon the student's major, college selected, interests and/or hobbies free on the Internet at www.srnexpress.com

2008–09 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Distribution Update
Attention: Change in Distribution for 2008–09
For 2008–09 paper FAFSAs will not be available for order in bulk. Students will be able to obtain a paper FAFSA by calling the Federal Student Aid Information Center at 1-800-4-FED-AID (1-800-433-3243) or by visiting www.edpubs.org. Students may request up to three copies of the paper application and should receive their FAFSAs in three to seven business days.
New for 2008–09 is a PDF version of the FAFSA that students can submit for processing. Beginning in mid-November the PDF will be available for download on various Federal Student Aid Web sites, such as www.FederalStudentAid.ed.gov. Students can access the PDF, complete the form on the computer or by hand, and mail it to the address provided for processing. Schools will also be able to access the PDF from www.FSAPubs.org.
High school students with top math/science scores
may qualify for four-year college scholarships
Beginning with the class of 2010, low- and middle-income high school students with top math and science test scores may be eligible to apply for up to four years of free college tuition through the new GET Ready for Math and Science Conditional Scholarship program.
Students must score a four on the math or science section of the high school WASL or score above the 95th percentile on the math section of the SAT or ACT. In return for the scholarships, students agree to earn a bachelor's degree in a qualified math or science program at an eligible public or private college or university in Washington. In addition, they agree to work in a math or science occupation in Washington for at least three years after college graduation.

1. AnyCOLLEGE.COM SCHOLARSHIP:
AMOUNT: $2,000
ELIGIBILITY: All high school students planning to attend an accredited college or university.

2. GIRLS GOING PLACES ENTREPRENEURSHIP AWARD PROGRAM:
AMOUNT: Prizes totaling $30,000 are awarded to three top winners and 12 finalists
ELIGIBILITY: Female between the ages of 12-18 who demonstrate budding entrepreneurship, are taking the first steps toward financial independence, and make a difference in their schools and communities.

4. T-MOBILE HUDDLE UP SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM:
AMOUNT: $5,000 per year for four years
ELIGIBILITY: Seniors with unmet financial need, academic achievement and a demonstrated commitment to community service. This is a community outreach program that connects kids, primarily from single-parent, high-need urban communities, to positive people, places and programs.

5. WASHINGTON STATE SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION:
The Washington State Scholarship Foundation's (WSSF) mission is to provide educational opportunities through scholarships to those in financial need. Financial need is the primary criteria for determining who will receive a scholarship. All applicants must have a high school education signified by a high school diploma or a GED from WA state school. Regardless of age, all applicants must be first time freshman. School can be defined as a university, community college or vocational school. $2,000 will be given to recipients entering four year post-secondary institutions. $1,000 will be awarded for community colleges, voc-tech schools or other accredited institutions.

6. WSU FUTURE COUGARS OF COLOR PROGRAM:
AMOUNT: Up to $40,000 over 4 years
ELIGIBILITY: To be considered for the interview program (April 2008) you must: complete an undergraduate application for admission and send with official SAT/ACT scores & transcript, complete WSU’s academic scholarship application, be accepted to WSU, and are strongly encouraged to complete the FAFSA. Registration is free for qualifying students who are residents of WA and will be entering their freshman year of college.
