2. Project HOPE (Health Occupations Prepatory Experience) Internship:
Recruiting high school juniors and seniors from rural and urban undeserved communities who have an interest in a health career, and then match them up with a 6 week, 100 hour paid internship in their community. This includes a 2-day overnight camp on the UW campus, allowing students to meet and discuss their ambitions and experiences.
Project HOPE is funded by the Washington State Department of Health. The purpose of this program is to ensure that health care providers accurately reflect the communities they serve. The ideal candidates are students who are underrepresented in the health care field and would be the first in their family to attend post-secondary education. The selection process for Project HOPE is competitive and currently has funding for 25 students across Western WA.
